존경하는 한국경영학회 회원 여러분,

 

창립 70주년이라는 뜻깊은 해에 회장직을 맡게 되어 깊은 영광과 함께 막중한 책임을 느낍니다. 이 자리는 개인의 영예가 아니라, 선배 학자들께서 이어오신 소명과 책무를 잠시 맡아 수행하는 자리라 생각합니다.

 

70년의 축적 위에 서서 1956년, 나라가 재건의 길을 걷던 시절 우리 선배 학자들은 경영학이라는 학문적 등불을 밝혔습니다. 그 작은 불씨는 70년 동안 수많은 연구와 토론, 그리고 현장과의 치열한 교류를 거치며 한국 사회와 기업의 성장에 기여하는 큰 빛으로 자라났습니다.

 

오늘 우리가 서 있는 이 자리 역시 누군가의 땀과 헌신이 켜켜이 쌓여 이루어진 결과입니다. 저는 그 축적의 의미와 무게를 결코 잊지 않겠습니다.

 

시대가 우리에게 묻고 있습니다 인공지능이 의사결정의 상당 부분을 대체하는 시대에, 경영의 본질은 무엇인가. 기업의 이익과 사회적 가치가 충돌할 때, 우리는 어떤 기준을 제시할 것인가. 인구 감소와 지역 소멸이라는 구조적 위기 앞에서, 경영학은 어떤 해법을 제안할 수 있는가.

 

이 질문들 앞에서 학문은 더 이상 연구실 안에 머물 수 없습니다. 지식이 현실을 만나 실천으로 이어질 때, 비로소 학문은 사회적 책임을 다합니다. 융합학회로서 한국경영학회가 시대의 길잡이가 되어야 하는 이유도 여기에 있습니다.

 

거창한 약속 대신, 단단한 실천 저는 1년 안에 모든 것을 바꾸겠다는 약속을 드리지 않겠습니다. 전임 회장단과 집행부가 쌓아온 전통과 성과를 존중하고, 그 토대 위에서 지금 우리에게 필요한 과제를 차분히 실행해 나가겠습니다.

 

개별 학회의 전문 영역을 융합학회가 대신하는 방식은 지양하겠습니다. 각 학회의 고유성과 전문성을 존중하는 것이 학문 공동체의 건강성을 지키는 길이라 믿습니다.

 

또한 특정 지역이나 이해관계에 치우친 활동으로 오해받을 수 있는 외부 행사 참여는 신중히 접근하겠습니다. 한국경영학회는 균형과 공공성을 지키는 융합학회로 자리해야 합니다.

 

그 대신, 공공·국방·바이오·엔터테인먼트·푸드·문화예술 경영 등 경영학의 시선이 더욱 필요하지만 아직 충분히 다뤄지지 않은 영역으로 시야를 넓히겠습니다. 융합학회로서 감당해야 할 새로운 책임이라 생각합니다.

 

우리가 함께 걸어갈 네 가지 길
첫째, 산학관연 협력 플랫폼을 구축하겠습니다. 산업계·학계·정부·연구기관이 함께 모여 실제 문제를 정의하고 해결하는 장을 만들겠습니다. 중소기업중앙회, 중견기업연합회, 한국경제인협회, 대한상공회의소, 산업통상자원부, 재정경제부, IBK기업은행, 중소벤처기업진흥공단, 한국소비자원 등과의 교류를 확대하여 기업과 사회의 미래 의제를 선도하는 학회가 되겠습니다.

 

둘째, 지역과 함께하는 실천적 학회가 되겠습니다. 전국 지회를 중심으로 산업단지공단, 테크노파크, 혁신도시 공기업 및 공공기관 등과 협력하여 지역 경제의 실질적 해법을 제시하겠습니다. 지역의 지속가능성이 곧 국가의 지속가능성입니다.

 

셋째, AI 시대에 걸맞은 학술생태계를 조성하겠습니다. 시의성 있는 주제로 학술대회의 참여를 확대하고, 젊은 연구자를 위한 연구방법론 및 AI 활용 교육을 강화하겠습니다. 회원들의 연구와 저술 활동에 대한 실질적 재정 지원을 확대하겠습니다. 동시에 정년을 앞둔 선배 교수님들을 위한 퇴임 준비 프로그램을 통해 세대 간 지혜의 선순환을 이루겠습니다.

 

넷째, K-경영의 세계화를 이끌겠습니다. K-콘텐츠, K-Food, K-방산 등 글로벌 시장에서 나타나는 한국 기업의 성과를 학문적으로 체계화하겠습니다. 재외동포청, KOTRA, KOCCA, 한국문화예술위원회, 한식진흥원 등과 협력하여 해외 진출 기업을 지원하고, 기업가정신 및 지속가능경영 연구를 통해 한국 경영학의 국제적 위상을 높이겠습니다.

 

100년을 향한 출발점에서 70년은 한 사람에게는 한평생에 가까운 시간입니다. 그러나 학문 공동체의 역사로 보면 이제 한 단계의 축적을 이룬 시점에 불과합니다. 앞으로의 100년은 지금 우리의 선택과 실천에 달려 있습니다.

 

이 계획은 저 혼자의 것이 아닙니다. 회원 여러분과 함께 논의하고 조율하며, 실현 가능한 과제로 만들어가겠습니다. 여러분의 참여가 곧 학회의 방향이자 힘입니다.

 

아낌없는 조언과 때로는 엄정한 비판을 부탁드립니다. 저는 겸손하되 흔들림 없이, 책임 있는 자세로 이 길을 걷겠습니다.

 

한국경영학회가 학문적 깊이와 실천적 지혜를 함께 갖춘 공동체, 그리고 서로에 대한 존중과 온기가 살아 있는 학회가 되도록 최선을 다하겠습니다.

Distinguished members of the Korean Academic Society of Business Administration,

 

It is with deep honor and a profound sense of responsibility that I assume the presidency in this meaningful year marking our 70th anniversary. I regard this position not as a personal distinction, but as a solemn duty temporarily entrusted to me—one that has been carried forward by generations of distinguished scholars before us.

 

Standing on the Foundation of Seventy Years

In 1956, during a time when our nation was rebuilding itself from devastation, our founding scholars lit the academic torch of business administration. What began as a small flame has, over the past seventy years, grown into a pillar of management scholarship in Korea—nurtured by rigorous research, vibrant debate, and active engagement with practice—contributing significantly to the growth of Korean society and industry.

 

The place where we stand today has been built upon the dedication and passion of those who came before us. I will never forget the meaning and weight of that legacy.

 

The Questions of Our Time

In an era when artificial intelligence increasingly supports and in some cases replaces human decision-making, what is the true essence of management? When corporate interests and social value collide, what standards should we propose? In the face of structural crises such as population decline and regional extinction, what solutions can business administration offer?

 

In confronting these questions, scholarship can no longer remain confined within the walls of academia. Knowledge fulfills its social responsibility only when it meets reality and translates into practice. This is precisely why our Society, as an interdisciplinary academic society, must serve as a guide in our time.

 

Solid Practice Rather than Grand Promises

I will not promise sweeping changes within a single year. Instead, I will respect the traditions and accomplishments established by previous presidents and executive committees, and steadily advance the tasks that are most necessary at this moment.

 

I will refrain from substituting the specialized domains of individual academic associations. Respecting each association’s unique identity and expertise is essential to maintaining a healthy academic community.

 

Likewise, I will approach external engagements with caution when they may be perceived as aligned with particular regional or vested interests. The Korean Academic Society of Business Administration must remain a balanced and public-oriented interdisciplinary society.

 

At the same time, I will broaden our vision toward areas where management scholarship is urgently needed but not yet sufficiently developed—such as public administration, national defense, biotechnology, entertainment, food industries, and cultural arts management. Embracing these emerging domains is a responsibility we must undertake.

 

Four Paths We Will Walk Together
First, we will establish a platform for industry–academia–government–research collaboration.

We will create a forum where stakeholders from industry, academia, government, and research institutions can jointly define and solve real-world problems. Through expanded collaboration with organizations such as the Korea Federation of SMEs, the Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea, the Federation of Korean Industries, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Industrial Bank of Korea, the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, and the Korea Consumer Agency, I will strive to lead future agendas for business and society.

 

Second, we will become a practice-oriented society that works closely with local communities.

In cooperation with regional chapters, industrial complex corporations, technoparks, and public enterprises in innovation cities, we will present practical solutions for revitalizing regional economies. The sustainability of our regions is inseparable from the sustainability of our nation.

 

Third, we will foster an academic ecosystem suited to the AI era.

We will enhance participation in our conferences by addressing timely themes and strengthen research methodology and AI utilization training for young scholars. We will expand tangible financial support for members’ research and publications. At the same time, we will introduce retirement preparation programs for senior professors, fostering a virtuous cycle in which experience and wisdom are passed on to the next generation.

 

Fourth, we will advance the globalization of K-Management.

We will systematically study and theorize the global achievements of Korean enterprises—from K-content and K-food to K-defense industries. In collaboration with institutions such as the Overseas Koreans Agency, KOTRA, KOCCA, the Arts Council Korea, and the Korean Food Promotion Institute, we will support global expansion efforts and elevate the international standing of Korean management scholarship through research in entrepreneurship and sustainable management.

 

At the Starting Point Toward the Next Century

Seventy years may represent a lifetime for an individual, but in the history of scholarship it marks only the completion of one stage in our collective journey. The next hundred years will depend on the choices and actions we take today.

 

This vision is not mine alone. It will be shaped through dialogue and coordination with all of you, and refined into achievable initiatives. Your participation is the direction and strength of this Society.

 

I sincerely ask for your continued guidance—and, when necessary, your candid criticism. With humility and steadfast conviction, I will walk this path together with you.

 

I will devote my utmost effort to ensuring that the Korean Academic Society of Business Administration becomes a community distinguished not only by academic excellence and practical wisdom, but also by mutual respect and a spirit of collegial warmth.
